About Us

Since 2001, the Monsoon Poon Restaurant & Bar has been spicing up the lives of Wellingtonians and visitors alike with favourite dishes from Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Indonesia. With a tasty menu that can cater for everyone, and an extensive array of drinks to complement it, we love to host our guests for a good time in a setting that aims to transport you to the bustling night markets of the Asian countries we endeavour to showcase. Loud, vibrant, and full of fun, we would love for you to join us.
We take reservations for lunch and for early evening dining, and we always welcome walk-ins with our bar ready to play host for pre-dinner drinks if there is not a table ready for you on arrival. We have two separate spaces available for private dining, accommodating groups of 8-80 guests. We offer our tiffin lunch service on weekdays, we’re available every day for home delivery through our delivery partners UberEats and Delivereasy, and we can help you entertain with out-catering options available too.
Opening Hours:
  • Kitchen open all day, Monday to Friday from 12pm until late
  • Dinner from 5pm Saturday and Sunday
  • Festive Season; we will be closed from December 22nd – December 26th, reopening at 5pm on December 27th and every night for dinner service only through until January 12th. Normal hours and lunch service resumes on January 13th. No surcharge on public holidays.
